We want Rugby at the Olympic Games:

Rugby 7s is a perfect spectator sport with speed, finess and physicality in short, watchable segments.

Like soccer Rugby is played world wide. It is one of the few sports around today that still shows true sportsmanship with between teams. Full of tradition and great competition.

Rugby requires incredible athleticism and camaraderie. It embodies the spirit of the Olympic games, and honoring the outstanding athletes who play around the world could not be more fitting than in this international arena.

Sevens is a fast growing sport that will continue to develop fans not just in the traditional countries but in developing countries throughout the world. This can be seen in Argentina's success in the the World Cup, and the draw at the Dubai, Hong Kong, and other World Series sevens tournaments. If twirling a string is an Olympic sport, rugby cannot be denied.

Rugby is a great sport and deserving of olympic games status.

Played worldwide by men, women & youth by mostly amateur participants. Qualifying system already in use [ Rugby World Cup]. Was a former Olympic sport. Great spectator sport.

Why shouldn't???

Rugby is the ultimate team sport and is extreamly exciting. it is also one of the only sports that promotes comraderie through out all teams and divisions.

As a former Club President, I have hoped to see Rugby Union returned to the Olympics FOR YEARS because: (1) there are no "professional" Club teams, (2) there is world wide participation in Club Rugby and (3) Club Rugby is a prime example of competition at the highest level with an unprecedented level of comradery. I believe in todays multi-media world, through the Olympics Club Rugby would very quicly be one of the most popular of all Olympic Sports.

Rugby should become an Olympic sport because it is one of the greatest international sports and has become very popular all over the world.

Because its just as elite a sport as fencing, BMX biking, and track and field, and deserves a spot on the same world stage that they get to be on!

It is a great competitive sport.

Because they have other sports that are less popular in the games, Rugby is universal sport.

We should not let this great sport be excluded from this stage of competition. There are few moments in life that can compare to or create the sense of accomplishment that Rugby provides. Allowing for further expansion of this sport will only make the Olympic Games and our world a better place.

It's a world-wide sport that should be appreciated by more people, plus making rugby an Olympic sport would help to encourage some of the sport's best players to become even more competitive.

A perfect sport for the Olympics.

Not only is rugby the perfect team sport, but I would go so far as to say the basic tenents of rubgy parallel those same tenents of the Summer Olympics. The Summer Olympics bring nations together to revel in the comraderie of the specticle of athetics at its finest. NO other sport than Rugby brings players and fans alike together to share the brothership(sisterhood) of rugby. We all know the true saying "Rugby is a hooligan's sport played and spectated by Gentlemen" "Soccer is a gentleman's sport played and spectated by hooligans". We have so many what I would call sports that are played by a very, very few people compared to Rugby. The Olympics should represent as many people/players as possible. I love watching the luge and short track speed skating, but please, there are more people in Philadelphia playing rugby than all the luge and skaters in the world! And - Philadelphia is not a hot bed compared to other cities of the world. This should be a "no brainer," if the Olympic Executives want the Games to represent the people.

Rugby should be in the olympics. NOT Sevens rugby but the REAl rugby thats been played for hundreds of years. Why do they have 90 minute soccer games but we can't have 80 minute rugby? How else are Americans going to be exposed to this game? We surely dont get the proper TV and news coverage. The Olympics is a good start but Sevens is a half measure.
