We want Rugby at the Olympic Games:

It is a sport played world wide for over 100 years...how many of the olympic sports today can meet that criteria?

because curling is an olympic event, why cant rugby.

Because rugby is an old sport and is more widely played than some of the other sports in the olympics and some are quite ridiculous like equestrian and rafting if those two get to be in there then rugby definaltley deserves to be in there too.

It is the ultimate team sport, it is popular world wide and it's just plain fun to watch.

Rugby is one of the best team sports out there. It has a higher endurance training and is incredibly intelligent play for quick thinkers. It's very clean and all the players hold a sense of pride and honor for the sport they play. I played rugby for two years and I can easily say it was the best two years of my life.

It's my understanding that rugby was in the Olympics at one point in time. It's such a compelling game and represents the best of sports with being so competitive but so grounded in camaraderie. That is unique because that camaraderie transcends cultural and ethnic boundaries across competing teams. I have traveled all over the world and had people take in into their homes strictly because of their love of the sport.

Rugby Is Fun, and is enjoyed by MANY people.

It is a wonderful sport and many countries play it already.

Rugby requires a high degree of athleticism, teamwork and dedication - the very qualities the Olympics lauds.

Simply because Rugby is the greatest physical contest anywhere in the world. For men, for women, for children, no other game on the planet tests a competitor's strength, courage, and inner talent to survive. Sure, there are wonderful athletes in many other challenging sports. Rugby players are more human than human. Watch a match, either 15's or 7's, and you will will see the global line drawn in the sand. Rugby is by far the greatest game anywhere in the world.

Rugby should be Olympic because it is recognized in hundreds of countries in six continents. It has progressed ever since the rugby Union turned professional. It will draw in a big crowd of which the Olympics would love to see. ADD IT TO THE 2012 OLYMPICS!!!!!

Because Rugby is just as fantastic and brutal as all the other Olympic sports, but is also a sport played all over the world and must be celebrated as such.

It is a great team sport that displays strength, speed and technique. 7's is a fast paced version of rugby that will definitely be a crowd pleaser.

If badminton is considered a sport, so should rugby. It takes a high degree of athleticism and perseverance, like any other Olympic sport

Rugby should be an olympic sport because it epitomizes the olympic spirit. Many countries of the world (including the USA in recent years) take rugby seriously and there is a lot of national pride involved, which is the point of the olympics. Rugby is a physically demanding sport that requires physical and mental toughness. Although many of the original olympic events were individual events [track, fighting] many of the most popular sports in modern times are team sports. Rugby is a combination of athletes of various skill sets working together to perform a task, score the ball. There is something symbolic about 15 (or 7) men working as a team to put a ball across a line, the ultimate triumph in the ultimate team sport. On the entertainment side of things, seven rugby in particular is a game that involves ball movement, open field tackling, big hits, fast breaks, and a lot of scoring, almost like basketball applied to rugby rules. I believe that sevens rugby would be a hit in the olympics and would involve more national pride than some of the current events that are already olympic sports.

It is a great spectator sport

It is a top tier sport, with top tier athletes unable to play for the glory of their nation on the olympic level.

I think Rugby should be at the Olympics because it is a great sport and you have to show great sportsman ship while playing the game. Even the apposing team has to show respect to the home team and viseversa. I thought that was one of the messages that the Olympics states. Lets give it a go!

It's easily the most physically demanding sport and puting national teams against each other for country pride is what the Olympics is about. I also believe it says something that at this point the United States has the most supporters for Rugby in the olympics and Rugby doesn't have as big of a following in the USA as in most other countries.

It is a great sport that takes speed, power and skill. It is great to watch and will keep people entertained.
