Because it will be the best of the best sevens players competing from the most wide ranging countries and rugby is played with the olympic spirit. Also its format of a 3 day competition is a huge thing for people watching live or on T.V. Get it in the Olympics!!!!!

Go to the wellington sevens..the olympics is missing that kind of excitement and atmosphere in my opinion.

Rugby is a great sport and as this years results for the IRB tour have shown it is a sport where the smaller rugby nations can excel at. It is also an equal sport, men and women share exactly the same rules. Plus rugby is a very young sport so the Olympics would be ideal to gain momentum in the development of the sport in many more countries.

As a grassroots rugby coach/manager I have seen of a high school rugby team, I have seen my students rise through the ranks of grassroots rugby to national sides to become All Blacks. Unfortunately this is as far as they progress. I believe that rugby or at least rugby 7's should become an olympic sport so that they can compete at a more competitive and international level.
