We want Rugby at the Olympic Games:

rugby is an already well established international sport, but the full internation events are limited to the world cup. Despite the national regognition in individual countries the level of some countries is not that of the main players (Eng, Scot,Wales,NZ etc..), maybe the increased significance of the game becoming an olympic sport will allow a greater spread of nations in the latter stages of the world cup. Any added intrest in the game is always a benefit, especially for women's rugby.

Rugby Union embodies the Olympic ideals.

It is fast, fun and physical.

Its fast, furious and very entertaining, shows a high standard of sportsmanship and is a whole lot better than beach volleyball

It is an exciting game that can have both 7 a-side and 15 a-side and has a very big following in many different countries. A team needs to have players of various different skills such as speed strength and stamina insdtead of being specialised on one skill like other events. Also there are all the facilities in England for a rugby tournament which has been shown by the sucess og the rugby 7's at Twickenham this year.

A popular sport played in numerous countries in the world. Allows players of all shapes and sizes to participate in a sporting activity. Olympics would bring the sport to a large audience and, hopefully, encourage others to join in.

It would improve funding for the game globally and would be perfect to for the opening week in the Olympic Stadium when it would be otherwise vacant.

Rugby 7s is a huge, worldwide sport, which is keen to make the Olympics the pinnacle of the game. It would be a huge Olympic draw and would allow a good chance of an Olympic medal for countries like Fiji and Samoa who might otherwise not be able to win one. It is a widely watched sport, and if football and tennis can be an olympic sport, then why not have Rugby Sevens. Every sevens weekend wherever in the world is a magnificent event that so many would love to go to, and it would be a great addition to the Olympics
