We want Rugby at the Olympic Games:

Because I love rugby and everyone should enjoy the fast paced international skill of the rugby players.

Because it blows other sport out of the water

Rugby is a developing sport more and more international teams are competing. It is a relatively cheap and easy sport to play and could become popular in developing nations.

It is the best sport in the world and extreamly popular everywhere.

Just get it in the olympics. No better sport to be included, any country can be world class in a couple of years with funding/sponsorship (look at Kenya!) and its got to better than Clay Pigeon Wrestling or whatever random "sports" (read "hobbies") they are also considering!!!

1. After the Olympics and Football World Cup, the Rugby World Cup is the third most watched tournament in the world. 2. Sevens rugby provides a sport that's tournament can fill the Olympic stadium in the first week when traditionally it is empty waiting for the athletics. 3. The game is far more competitive in Sevens than at 15 a side (see Kenya, Portugal, Georgia and germany getting through to the IRB Sevens series, so has wider appeal. 4. It is such a fast and exciting game that it will gain a lot of crowd participation (see what it has done to the Commonwealth Games.

A team game with the finest tradition of sportsmanship, and 7s as proved in Commonwealth Games, Hong Kong 7s etc is a great spectacle enjoyed by large crowds.

Why not? It's a brilliant and proper "sport."

It is the ultimate team sport for both men and women and always played in a sporting manner totally befitting the Olympic Games.

rugby is a sport accessible to all. children, adults, boys, girls, people with disabilities, tall, short, large, small. it enables sound friendships to be established and instills quality values and beliefs among its people. a greta spectator sport for all the familiy.... why would you not want to see it as part of the olympics the greatest sporting spectacle?

To the founders of the modern Olympics, Rugby always was an Olympic Sport, and should be again, this time as Sevens Rugby, to fit in with the 16 day tournament. Not allowing Rugby as an Olympic Sport is tantamount to sacrilege.

Having spent a fantastic day at the IRB 7's with people from all nations with a fantatsic atmosphere. Surely a TRUE olympic spirit!.

Its a very professional sport requiring endurance, stamina, agility, speed and accuracy. This sport not only brings the players together it is perfect for the olympics, it is ideal.

Rugby is the greatest team sport in the World. Watched by millions globally. It is head and shoulders above any potential competition in terms of fan base and the raw athletisiscm needed. A Sevens tournament in the Olympics is guaranteed ratings. It's both a positive for Olympic ratings and a positive for the growth of Rugby on foreign soil. Sevens at the Olympics is a MUST.

So much talent and effort should be recognized on the world stage.

All the traditions and values that make the Olympiad an occasion unparalleled across the sporting world are represented in the game of rugby. The ethos rests not just upon teamwork, but also mental and physical strength as well as a diverse range of player skills. The tournament format of rugby sevens already enjoys great success worldwide and would make a wonderful spectacle if incorporated into the games. Both would reach out to new global audiences and benefit greatly in the long run. Truly, a wonderful opportunity.

Its spectators and fans at club level and international level exhibit the highest standards of behaviour and fair mindedness allowing the full intermingling of spectators. It is now played in a large number of countries and is governed by an International Board. The rugby scrum is the ultimate representation of the olympic tradition with the tight five engaging in an olympic ring formation, each player tightly interlinked with each other in unity. At the pinnacle of the game it is called a Test, decribing exactly what it does for every athlete.

It maintains and realises all the noblest elements of the Olympic ideal in that it is universally played out of love of the sport, it brings yuong people together in a game that requires athleticism, skill, courage and endeavour and yet despite its intensely competitive nature, rugby creates bonds of friendship and respect that transcend the limitations of the sportsfield.

Because the RWC is the 3rd most watched event in the world, highlighting the global appeal of rugby. Unfortunately only a handful of countries are rich enough to produce top tier squads. With Olympic status those countries will have to put Rugby in with their olympic funding and produce better teams. This will bring more parity to the worldwide game to match the worldwide appeal.
