Rugby has a high fan base around the world, with numbers that are increasing at a high rate. this is highlighted by the petition map on this page, which shows that the most active petition countries are not those you would associate with rugby. It has the involvement of more countries than other olympic sports, so would be a large crowd puller. The spirit of rugby lends itself perfectly to the olympics as I'm not sure if there is a more sociable sport in the world. Finally 7s rugby is incredibly exciting! it is a great game!!
