    9. Olympic rugby to the power of U

      Posted at 22nd July 2009 / 23:52

'This is why we love rugby'. We get a chance to think and say it pretty much every day in replies to emails we get with ideas, support and suggestions from places all over the world from A rgentina to Z imbabwe - cheers to all of you rugby mad people! We all know rugby is a great sport, but also a powerful glue that binds us all together. People have always been passionate about sport - starting back in the ancient Olympics, when guys still competed naked as somebody rightly pointed out in our Facebook group - they didn't play rugby yet. William Webb Ellis' moment of genius was a bit later.

There definitely is passion in rugby, for many good and honest on the field reasons and maybe there is even a little more than in other sports because it is a bit exotic, most definitely special and because it is well, rugby. Even in most so called 'non rugby' countries anyone wearing a rugby shirt will sooner or later get a big knowing smile from somebody or find themselves tied up in some friendly rugby chat, you gotta love the power of our sport.

Isn't it great to know that you can most certainly trust that burly looking dude with the cauliflower ears and the broken nose who is trying to sell you some insurance or a trip to Asia? Yes you can and you also know exactly why - because many others who have played with the guy have been able to do the same and it all starts with the tight five!

      OR server

Earlier this week we sent out a mailer to everyone who has signed the petition so far. There is passion in rugby yes and each and every one of us has experienced what it is like to be the underdog, so we all know when to step up and be counted. This is what most of you did this week for rugby's Olympic inclusion.

The power of U - here it is. This is what happened with our servers when so many of you decided to pass on the mailer and spread the word. Oh yeah! Hands will do - rugby goes over in the corner and wins the Olympic test match! You absolute legends!

It works, take it and send it on. This is why we love rugby. No further questions. Crouch, touch and pause - Engage!
